Being in educational games means finding a way of creating games like the old style puzzle/narrative games… i think. I think this because we often end up w/ lots of lecture we need to squeeze in around gameplay. This is not a bad thing. This is important info.

Whew! Too much fun for a Sunday night! Too few people showed up to see the Preservation Hall light up the stage at the Rio Grande Theater in Las Cruces. Those who did were treated to a great evening of New Orleans jazz. The average age of the band (and the crowd) was probably 10,000, [...]

I arrived home yesterday afternoon to see this in my neighbor’s driveway. Needless to say, I jumped out of my truck and ran over there like a little kid. I fell in love right away. Something like this just sums up the art of manufacture and design. I want one!

Been reading and hearing lots about the SCRUM technique for designing games. Here is a good article from gamasutra that cautions against common pitfalls. The overall message is that it is not a silver bullet. Those of us making games know that many games need to be designed on an individual basis. Certain games, can [...]

Had a great conference. Thanks to the organizers. Also, thanks to Pamela and Jeanne for making this happen for us at Media Productions. There were many great sessions and several that were a bit to research and assessment heavy.
Madison is a great town. We did not get to visit the taxidermy museum but we did [...]

Looks as if I will be able to get some graduate credit for Spanish classes! I want to do 3 intensive study trips to Mexico over the next 18 months. Not sure how I am going to work that in but I will try. I’ll need 50 hours of instruction to get 2 credits. I [...]
