I have been reading about language aquisition. Specifically, thinking about nouns and noun phrases. Steven Pinker sez:
… by unconciously labeling all nouns as “N” and all noun phrases as “NP”, the child only has to hear about 25 different kinds of noun phrase and learn the nouns one by one, and the millions of possible [...]
